Cybersecurity is under pressure – The biggest business risk of 2025

In Risk in Focus 2025 it is clear: cybersecurity retains its top position as the most critical risk for European organizations, and a full 83% of business leaders rank it as one of the five greatest threats. This is a strong signal of the growing need for robust solutions.


What’s driving this?

The threat landscape has changed rapidly, and AI has become a tool used for both defense and attack. Deepfakes are used in targeted attacks where the threat is not only technical, but also personal. “Phygital” attacks are those where attackers use both social engineering and physical presence to access critical operations, and they have started to appear across several industries. At the same time, legislation is tightening, and the EU’s NIS2 directive imposes significantly stricter requirements than before—not only on large companies, but also on their suppliers.

This means that you as an MSP often sit in the middle of the chain—with demands from both above and below. This places entirely new demands on the services you offer, and offerings that previously revolved around patching, backups, and antivirus are no longer sufficient. Customers need clear answers to questions like: How do we handle incident reporting? How do we control permissions and access? What do we do if a supplier suffers a breach—and we are indirectly affected?

We as a distributor see more and more MSPs moving from being operational partners to becoming proactive security partners who have control over their customers’ environments. But this requires the right tools, processes, and packaging. This is not just a technical challenge, but an opportunity to offer stronger, more differentiated services. MSPs who can respond to customers' growing needs in cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management will gain ground. And it starts with viewing cybersecurity as a strategic business opportunity, not just as a safety net.
