A recent ransomware attack targeted Tietoevry, a Finnish IT service provider, significantly impacting several Swedish organizations including government agencies, schools, and companies. The incident occurred overnight between January 19th and 20th, affecting one of Tietoevry's Swedish data centers.
Despite partial recovery, many customer services remain disrupted. Key Swedish businesses, like Filmstaden cinema and retail chain Rusta, were hit, leading to operational challenges. Educational institutions, government bodies, and a farming supplier also faced disruptions.
The attack, attributed to the Akira hacking group, exploited vulnerabilities in VPN implementations, as noted by the Finnish National Cyber Security Center.
